A little insight into the things I love and enjoy:
Drinks: I’m not much of a drinker these days, although I am often tempted with a good Negroni. Sometimes partial to Champagne or an interesting sounding cocktail that intrigues me, anything with lychee or elderflower. Also a big tea drinker, I love the ritual of making hot drinks.
Food: Vietnamese, Thai, Lebanese, French, Turkish, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Italian, pretty much everything, I can’t think of any cuisine I dislike. White-tablecloth high end restaurants are fun now and then but I am really most interested in how the food tastes, and I do not enjoy stiff, overbearing service. I really enjoy food, and also love to cook and bake bread.
Turn ons: Anticipation, kissing, soft touching, mindful sensuality, intimacy and connection… most of the time. Occasionally there are times that the tamest visual cues can get to me, setting off a million inner animal urges. I like to experiment and explore and I certainly have done this with regards to my sexuality, but in doing so I discovered that the vitally important qualities needed when I engage in sexual experiences of any kind are intimacy and connection, and for me that is what keeps things fresh and exciting. This is where my interest in Tantra developed as I found it helped develop my experience of sex from being just a way to achieve a quick, empty release into something more fulfilling that can always be developed further. So I do like to indulge myself with variety now and again, but if you took those qualities away I think I find that eventually even the most debauched activities start to feel dull and hollow. Oh and I am DEFINITELY a voyeur.
Destination: I’m a big fan of city breaks, I love wandering around exploring, stopping to eat and people watching. My favourite cities are Melbourne, Barcelona, NYC, San Francisco, Amsterdam, Stockholm and Bangkok.
Perfume: I seem to be turning into a bit of a perfume connoisseur and my collection is ever expanding. Favourites are from Byredo (Black Saffron), Diptyque (Vetyverio & Fleur de Peau), Tom Ford (Santal Blush & my absolute current fave White Suede) and Le Labo (Ambrette 9).
Art: Amrita Sher-gil, Charlotte Solomon, Yayoi Kusama, Lisa Brice, Jenny Saville, Marlene Dumas, Francis Bacon, Bruce Gilden, Lucien Freud, Nan Goldin, Noboyoshi Araki, Daido Moriyama, Robert Crumb, Egon Schiele (or as someone commented recently, “All the perverted stuff.”).
Writers: Vladimir Nabokov, Milan Kundera, Oscar Wilde, Oliver Sacks, William Butler Yeats, Sylvia Plath, Iain M. Banks, Alan Bennett, Emily Bronte, Roddy Doyle, Kate Braverman & Cormac McCarthy.
Directors: Kenji Mizoguchi, Pedro Almodovar, Michael Haneke, David Lynch, Akira Kurosawa, Ingmar Bergman, Alexandro Jodorowsky, Asghar Farhadi, Hayao Miyazaki, Wes Anderson, Agnes Varda, The Coen Brothers, Terry Zwigoff, Nicole Holofcener and Billy Wilder.
TV: I don’t seem to have time for TV these days, especially as they often release it all at once now and I am a terrible binger, so I try and avoid exposing myself when possible, lest I (inevitably) fall in and lose a few days/weeks. I loved The Wire (my favourite), The Sopranos, Louie, Mad Men, Twin Peaks, The Thick of It and anything to do with Chris Morris.
Hobbies/Interests: Cooking, fine and not so fine dining, Psychology, Anthropology, Neurology, travelling, meditation, reading, films, photography, hiking and long, aimless walks, I like exploring.
